The research reviewed here does not establish NAD+ injections or supplements as a reliable weight-loss treatment. A role in metabolism does not mean a product produces clinically meaningful weight loss.
NAD+, NMN, berberine, and tirzepatide are different substances. They should not be grouped together as interchangeable ways to reduce appetite or lose weight.

What does the NMN insulin study mean?
A small 2021 trial in postmenopausal women with prediabetes reported improved muscle insulin sensitivity with NMN. That specific endpoint is not a demonstration that NAD injections cause weight loss. Read beyond “metabolic health” to the actual ingredient, population, duration, and results. The precursor comparison provides context.
What about NAD with tirzepatide?
Adding NAD to a compounded product does not establish added benefit or inherit the evidence for an approved tirzepatide product. Ask why the additional ingredient is proposed and what evidence supports the final combination. Combination-product questions covers label and prescribing issues. Do not adjust either medicine using an online NAD chart.
The insulin-resistance review compares the small positive NMN muscle study with an NR trial that did not improve insulin sensitivity.
Do berberine and NAD patches cause weight loss?
Studies of oral ingredients do not establish absorption or weight loss from a patch. NCCIH describes limitations in the oral berberine evidence; that uncertainty is greater when someone transfers the claim to another delivery route. Read our patch evidence guide before treating “GLP-1,” moringa, or berberine patch branding as proof of drug-like effects.
Can NAD cause weight gain?
A change on the scale after starting a product does not identify its cause. Diet, fluid changes, other medicines, illness, and ordinary variation may contribute. Discuss an unexpected or persistent change with a clinician rather than adding another product to counteract it. Keep the exact label and timing available for that discussion.
What is a useful next step?
Define the weight-related health concern and ask about options with evidence for your situation. Compare total cost, expected benefit, adverse effects, and follow-up. If a NAD offer is part of the conversation, ask what it adds beyond the established plan. A wellness purchase should not displace care for diabetes or other conditions.
